It started as a crazy idea on the Facebook Group, Native American Flute Musicians. The idea was simple, make a flute and send it around the country so other Flute players could add their songs to it, and play it in a nice place. Playing the flute not only blesses the player, but the flute itself, and we can all follow it on its Journey around the Nation.
Of course, every adventure needs some rules so we came up with the easiest and most simplified method of getting the flute to as many flute players that wanted to participate, and started the journey!

The flute, made by Ed Dougherty of Tree Of Life Designs is in the Key of Am and is made from walnut. It is being shipped around the country to players who make a video of them playing the flute, usually in a local historic place, and then send it on to another player. Eventually it will return home to Ed, and be donated along with all of its stories, which will reside here.

On this web site you can see how it traveled around the nation, you can watch videos of each player when they had it, and you can join as a member of NAFM on Facebook.

It is our hope that this becomes a yearly or annual event. Our plan is to allow different flute makers send a flute on a journey around the country and let the players tell their own stories with it. As of now, this is the first Adventure and we hope you can keep up!
